My beautiful home state of Georgia has some pretty spectacular hidden gems peppered throughout the state. While it’s known for its Southern hospitality, the city of Atlanta, and Savannah – there’s so much more to see. If you happen to find yourself around the area and need a little guidance, check out my list below, which notes the best-hidden gems in Georgia!

HIKING & VIEWS

Kennesaw Mountain Park

This hike is perfect for those wanting a little outdoor adventure without leaving the Atlanta metropolitan area. The hike to the top is approximately 1.4 miles on the road and 1.2 miles up the trail. The mountains and their surrounding National Battlefield Park offer miles of trails that weave through forests, over mountaintops, and through grassy meadows and make for a great run, hike, or outdoor adventure near town.

Brasstown Bald

Brasstown Bald is the highest point in Georgia, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains on the border between Towns and Union counties south of Hiawassee. Its paved trail leads to stunning views.

Tallulah Falls

Tallulah Gorge State Park is one of North Georgia’s most popular destinations, offering more than 20 miles of trails, camping, swimming, fishing, and spectacular waterfalls.

Black Rock Mountain State Park

Black Rock Mountain State Park offers the highest elevation in Georgia, showcasing some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

WINERIES

Montaluce Winery & Restaurant

This is probably one of my favorite places. Montaluce is a winery offering vineyard tours & tastings, plus a popular restaurant & forest hiking. It’s truly magical. They also have Spanish & Italian style villas if you want to stay for the weekend. It’s a perfect getaway for locals not wanting to go far.

Chateau Meichtry Family Vineyard and Winery

Chateau Meichtry is a family-owned and operated winery and vineyard located in north Georgia wine country. The vineyard lies in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachians. The perfect Sunday activity, offering wine tasting, beautiful scenery, and live music.

COFFEE & FOCUS

Land of a Thousand Hills in Roswell

For those who know me, you know I love me some coffee shops. While creating this list was hard, I narrowed it down to my top 3. The Land of a Thousand Hills has a super cute location in Roswell. They have an outdoor section, which gave me Denver feels. I encourage you to check this one out on a Sunny day.

Boulder Creek Coffee

Boulder Creek Coffee is a quaint coffee shop located in Lawrenceville, providing pour-over coffee, espresso drinks & tea, plus sandwiches & baked goods. It offers a lot of space and rooms for those wanting to focus and get some work done.

Whole Being Café

This one’s pretty far from Atlanta, but I’m honestly obsessed with North Georgia and being away from people. Whole Being Café is a super cute “Friends” style coffee shop. The owners are super sweet, offering homemade coffee, baked good, and sandwiches. They also have an upstairs section.

 SCENERY & CUTE TOWNS

Marietta Square

Marietta Square is a new South city-center, offering an intriguing blend of contemporary dining, arts, culture, and entertainment. This is an excellent place for walking and food.

Downtown Roswell

Downtown Roswell is home to some of the finest restaurants in the metro area. A great place to enjoy some food and drinks on a Friday or Saturday night.

Downtown Clayton

While downtown Clayton is small, it’s a perfect little town for those in North Georgia. Come here to food & shops. During your stay, go to The Farm House Donuts for fresh, home-made donuts!

CITY & WALKING

Ponce City Market

Retail shops and offices add to the life, color, and culture of Ponce City Market and surrounding neighborhoods. The market is a great place to chill, enjoy some food & drinks, walk around, and shop.

The BeltLine

The Atlanta BeltLine is Atlanta’s newest outdoor space and comprises 22 miles of unused railroad tracks circling the core of the city’s in-town neighborhoods. The Atlanta BeltLine works to connect people throughout the city, from trails and walkways to open green space and parks.

The Avalon

About 30 minutes north of Atlanta, the Avalon offers dining, walking, and entertainment.

Looking forward to your adventures!
